The Uganda E-Mobility Association (UEMA) was established in April 2024 by its founding members with the primary goal of uniting all industry players and the e-mobility ecosystem under a single voice. UEMA is committed to building a localized coalition for e-mobility solutions, positioning Uganda as a leading hub for innovation and collaboration in the sector. Our mission is to align the actions and targets of e-mobility stakeholders with the necessary support from various entities.
As we launch the Association, the Sector Position Paper plays a critical role in analyzing the current state of the industry, highlighting trends in innovation and adoption within Uganda’s e-mobility landscape, and identifying the changes needed to accelerate growth. This paper underscores the clear benefits of e-mobility innovations and outlines a roadmap for future development. Sponsored by USAID Power Africa under the Empower East and Central Africa program, this research forms the foundation for continued engagement and progress in the e-mobility sector.
Ongoing Projects
E-Mobility Sector Position Paper
In collaboration with USAID Power Africa, UEMA has conducted extensive research on the current state of the e-mobility sector in Uganda. This project has uncovered key insights into the gaps, opportunities, and recommendations necessary to accelerate the transition to electric mobility. The findings from this research will help guide stakeholders in their efforts to scale adoption and promote sustainable transportation solutions.
The Sector Position Paper not only highlights the economic and environmental benefits of e-mobility but also provides a comprehensive roadmap for overcoming existing barriers. UEMA will continue to build on this research, working closely with the government, private sector, and development partners to drive forward the adoption of e-mobility across Uganda.
